Our History

Allied Oil Company Limited is a private Limited liability company incorporated in Ghana on November 4,1996 under the Companies Code of 1963(Act 179).The then Ministry of Mines and Energy issued a provisional operating license to the Company as the premier private indigenously- owned Oil Marketing company on July 15,1998. The company commenced business on October 19,1998. Later in October 2003 the Energy Commission issued the company with a final license under the Energy Commission Act (Act 541).

In 1998, at the time Allied Oil was licensed to operate, the industry players were just a handful. In fact, apart from GOIL which was and is still owned by the government of Ghana the others were all foreign owned. Mobil, Total, Elf(which later merged with Total),Shell and Unipetrol(now Oando)were the key players. The history of indigenous private sector participation in oil marketing business in Ghana cannot be written without reference to the successful entry of Allied Oil into the industry that appeared to be a preserve of multinational companies. Today we have about 43 licensed oil marketing companies in Ghana. Most of these companies are Ghanaian owned.

Allied Oil has a primary workforce which has grown from twelve(12) in 1999 to sixty(60) in 2006. This is supported by another 350 workers at our various stations. Allied Oil is truly a source of livelihood for a large number of Ghanaians and their dependants. The company’s pool of qualified and motivated professionals possesses a wide breadth of experience and education in all functional areas of the country. In 2001,Allied Oil finalized the development of the Standard Operating Procedure Manuals(S.O.P.M.s) for all our operation centers to direct, focus, define, control and dictate all operational procedures.

Since its inception, Allied Oil Company Limited has benefited greatly from its unique relationship with Danicom Limited, a sister company with a rich history and experience in fuel haulage and distribution. Allied Oil initially took over and built on the extensive rural sales network that Danicom Limited had developed over the years and this provided the strategic launching pad for our take-off.
